There is a legend: when the god divided the land between peoples, the mountaineers had a feast in his honour. Thus, they were late for the beginning. Then the god gave them the part which he had left for himself. It was the Caucasus. According to an old legend Prometheus had been chained  in the mountains of the Caucasus. This people nokhty known by the name of the Chechens had been living and live there now.
